There are moments in life that remain etched in your memory forever and one of such moments for me was the time when I saw John Cena holding the United States Championship many years ago. I can still visualize that dramatic scene when he was confronting Seth Rollins, coupled with that savage match resulting in Cena getting his nose hurt. That day not only marked a wrestler but also a fighter, someone who though beaten and wounded, still looked fierce.
When we come to today’s date, the reality is more profound. My idol and inspiration John Cena has decided to hang up his boots for good. To compose this gives me such a feeling almost like disbelief. Cena personified not only a WWE Superstar but also a feeling, a figure of hope, and the one who told the three golden words l, which the whole generation: Never Give Up.
The history of John Cena spans from the very first match with Kurt Angle in 2002 up to the very last battle with Gunther in 2025 when Cena put all the cards on the table. I’ve gone through every clash, every rivalry, every win and loss however, I was still totally unprepared for this day. The sight of the “Never Give Up” hero saying “I quit” in his last match was like an ending of a story I always wanted to read more of.
Yet, the legends indeed never go away. They are still around through their legacy that is passed on whenever we watch their old great fights, admire their shining speeches, or even sing their intro music. It is true that Cena is hanging up his boots, but the influence he had on millions of the audience including me will stay with every place, every memory, and every person he encouraged.
Thank you, John Cena for being a part of my childhood and for showing me the real way of hard work, loyalty, and respect.
